Gretchen PetersTwo-time Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Gretchen Peters comes to the Black Box Songwriter Series on Sunday, Feb. 17, 6:30 p.m., at Medical City Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street.

Peters has cut her own artistic path while releasing nine critically-acclaimed albums. Born in New York and raised in Colorado, the 25-year Nashville resident has accumulated accolades as a songwriter for artists as diverse as Etta James, Trisha Yearwood, Bonnie Raitt, The Neville Brothers, Patty Loveless, George Strait, Bryan Adams and Faith Hill.

Her 2012 album, Hello Cruel World, landed in the top 5 on the U.S. Americana chart, and maintained the No. 1 position for a record-breaking two months on the EuroAmericana chart. Described by NPR's All Things Considered as “the album of her career,” Hello Cruel World appeared in numerous Best of 2012 lists including No Depression, AllMusic.com, and Performing Songwriter. Peters was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters’ Hall of Fame in 2014.

The Black Box Songwriter Concert Series is produced by the City of Lewisville and features performing singer/songwriters in an intimate, listening room setting.

To reach MCL Grand from I-35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. MCL Grand will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Church streets, or at Lewisville City Hall.
