Main and Mill Bench Dedication

MainStreetBencn-MainandMill

The City of Lewisville will dedicate four, one-of-a-kind, art benches along Main Street, between Mill Street and Kealy Avenue, during a public ceremony at 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 19.

These four benches are the latest public art pieces to be installed in Lewisville and are a major component of the Main and Mill Corridor Project. The benches capture and portray historical aspects of the development of Lewisville. Three benches will be installed on the south side of Main Street, and one on the north side. All four benches will face away from the street toward a standard concrete sidewalk.

May + Watkins Designs of New York created the benches. The company has implemented public art around the country for more than 20 years. Two benches are approximately eight feet long, and the other two are approximately 10 feet long in order to add a bicycle accommodation (such as a bike rack). Artists Carol May and Tim Watkins will be in attendance at the ceremony.

Public parking is available in the Elm Street Public Parking lot, 127 S. Mill Street.
