The Visual Art League of Lewisville VAL holds its general meeting on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. Each month in conjunction with the general meeting, VAL produces an “Art Talk” series of known speakers and art demonstrations. Visitors are welcome to attend any meeting. The June meeting will be held in the Black Box Theater.
Tina Alvarez, Art in the Dark
Tina Alvarez will lead a discussion about creating "black light" art for the Visual Art League of Lewisville’s October Gallery Show at the MCL Grand. Learn the differences between the neon, "glo", fluorescent, and phosphorescent mediums and materials. An interactive session, you will have the opportunity to play with supplies and make a "take home" creation. Come explore with us!
Attendees are asked to bring an old (or failed) piece of art that is no larger than 11"x14" as well as some old brushes in order to create some "black light" art.
Tina Alvarez has been a member of VAL for more than 10 years and is best known for her award-winning photography. However, she also loves to explore many other mediums, including alcohol inks, watercolor, acrylic, cold wax and oil, paintings on acetate, intuitive art, and creating "black light" art.
A past professional speaker and teacher, Tina has led many different workshops in the DFW area, including events at the Craft Guild of Dallas, Dallas Arboretum, A Creative Art Studio (Denton), Brandi's Art Studio (Dallas) senior centers and in-home art parties.
