About Us

Medical City Lewisville Grand Theater (MCL Grand) opened its doors with a three-day celebration on Jan. 14-16, 2011. The center is located at 100 N. Charles Street, between Main and Church streets, in the heart of Old Town Lewisville. Administrative offices and art gallery are open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

MCL Grand gives the many arts groups in the Greater Lewisville area a facility to perform and display their works and also hosts other regional and national shows and exhibits, events, classes and meetings. The facility features a 296-seat theater with acoustics designed for both speech and music, a 2,200-square-foot art gallery, a 2,400-square-foot dance recital hall, 3,000-square-foot black box and 1,750 square feet of classrooms. A courtyard from Charles Street to the theater lobby is large enough to host small outside performances and dinners.

Page Sutherland Page architectural firm designed the center, which draws upon similarities to the existing buildings in Old Town Lewisville. Several local arts groups provided input in the planning stages of the facility. Tax Increment Refinance Zone bonds funded most of the project.

LakeCities Ballet Theatre "Coppelia"

LakeCities Ballet Theatre - Coppelia
Friday, March 29 - Sunday, March 31

Coppélia is the story of a girl, by the same name who sits on her balcony all day reading, while speaking to no one. A local boy named Franz falls head over heels for her and decides to marry her, regardless of the fact that he is already engaged. His fiancé, Swanilda, finds out about Franz’s plans, but soon learns that Coppélia is really only a wind-up doll that belongs to Doctor Coppélius, the town’s mad scientist. Swanilda decides to impersonate the doll and win back the love of Franz. Chaos follows, but, in the end, Swanilda and Franz make up and get married. The townspeople celebrate the marriage with festive dances and merriment, as everyone involved goes happily on their way. Coppélia is a comic ballet originally choreographed by Arthur Saint-Léon to the music of Léo Delibes and it first premiered in 1870 in Paris. LakeCities Ballet Theatre is pleased to present this family-friendly ballet with choreography by LBT Artistic Director, Kelly Kilburn Lannin. LBT Senior member, Mikaela Seale, will dance the lead role of Swanilda. Special Guest Artist from Pacific Northwest Ballet and LBT alumnus, Steven Loch, will dance the role of Franz. Special Guest Artist, Nigel Burgoine, formerly with the London Festival Ballet, will portray the eccentric Dr. Coppélius.

There will be a Pre-performance workshop on Sunday, March 31, at 12:30 pm, which will be free with the purchase of a performance ticket. This event for our younger guests, conducted by Artistic Director Kelly Kilburn Lannin, will include a visit to LBT’s “Wax Museum”, where there will be live wind-up dolls on stage who explain the story of Coppélia and the different roles that the dancers will play in the production. Please RSVP for this workshop to guild@lakecitiesballet.org and include the attendee’s name and age.

Show dates and times are Friday, March 29, 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 30, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 31, 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased online at lakecitiesballet.org or at the door.
