Medical City Lewisville Grand Theater (MCL Grand) opened its doors with a three-day celebration on Jan. 14-16, 2011. The center is located at 100 N. Charles Street, between Main and Church streets, in the heart of Old Town Lewisville. Administrative offices and art gallery are open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

MCL Grand gives the many arts groups in the Greater Lewisville area a facility to perform and display their works and also hosts other regional and national shows and exhibits, events, classes and meetings. The facility features a 296-seat theater with acoustics designed for both speech and music, a 2,200-square-foot art gallery, a 2,400-square-foot dance recital hall, 3,000-square-foot black box and 1,750 square feet of classrooms. A courtyard from Charles Street to the theater lobby is large enough to host small outside performances and dinners.

Page Sutherland Page architectural firm designed the center, which draws upon similarities to the existing buildings in Old Town Lewisville. Several local arts groups provided input in the planning stages of the facility. Tax Increment Refinance Zone bonds funded most of the project.


Teen Art Workshop - Cancelled

Designed specifically for teens ages 13-17, Teen Art Workshops will introduce participants to working artists who will share various processes and techniques for making art in a hands-on way. Participants will take home a project from each workshop. Presented in partnership by the Lewisville Parks and Recreation Department and the Medical City Lewisville Grand Theater.

Come join us for this FUN mixed media workshop just for teens with Dallas artist, VET. Create a postcard size fabric collage using cloth, trimming, beads, buttons, markers, and glue. Choose from a selection of postcard images and then make a fabric collage that reflects the colors and style of the postcard. Take home a miniature masterpiece of expression and travel.

VET, a native Dallasite, received her Bachelor of Arts and Performance at the University of Texas at Dallas and has been promoting recycling in her teaching and artwork for more than 20 years. In her Deep Ellum studio, she creates one-of-a-kind pieces from discarded items such as books, dolls, paper mats, purses, and book markers and has been featured in solo and group exhibitions at many North Texas galleries.

Located in the heart of historic downtown Lewisville, MCL Grand is the premier public arts facility in Southern Denton County. The 40,000-square-foot facility features a 296-seat proscenium theater, black box theater, dance recital hall, art gallery, five art classrooms and a large courtyard. Medical City Lewisville has a multi-year agreement with the city for naming rights at the center.

To reach MCL Grand from Interstate 35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. MCL Grand will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Church streets, or at Lewisville City Hall across Church Street from the center.
