The Lewisville Lake Symphony will present “Farewell” on Friday, February 17, 7:30 p.m., at MCL Grand, 100 N. Charles St.
Haydn’s thrilling Symphony No. 45 in F-sharp Minor, the “Sturm and Drang” symphony, ends with a not-so-subtle hint to his patron Nikolas Esterhazy. The orchestra players had enough of the prince’s summer palace at Esterhaza and were ready to head back to their homes and their wives at Eisenstadt. The ploy worked. The court headed for home the next day.
The concert will also feature a concerto performed by Violist Yong-Ha Jung, a junior at Flower Mound High School, 2017 winner of the Vernell Gregg Young Artists Competition. He will perform Paganini’s La Campanelle.
Yong-Ha is the Co-Principal Violist of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra. He has also won the Collin County Young Artists Competition and the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition. He was a national finalist in the MTNA Competition and a finalist in the Lynn Harrell Concerto Competition. Not only is he a talented musician, but he is also a well-rounded student, ranking among the top 10 percent of his class.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $10 for students, and can be purchased at the door or online at lewisvillesymphony.org. For information, call 972.874.9087.
